Abstract

14,240. Renaut, C. June 21. Cutting-out.-Relates to a machine for cutting, perforating, or pinking cloths &c., which may also be used for cutting-out patterns whilst avoiding completely any unravelling of the thread. A corrugated knife 10, Figs. 1 and 2, or any suitable knife, or set of punches, is mounted in a holder 4, which is guided by slots in uprights 2, 3 forming part of a frame 1. The holder is actuated by means of a hand-lever 5 with a small arm 5<1>, which is connected by means of a double link 7 to the . holder 4 ; or, the arm 5 may be double and jointed to a link 7 with a forked end for embracing the part 8 of the holder 4. The holder 4 is supported by springs 11, which return it to its original position after the cutting operation. The holder 4 is provided with curved or other metal springs 12, which grip the materials during the cutting. The frame of the machine is provided with tables 15, 16 for supporting the work, and the table 16 is formed with an adjustable guide 17, which is used in connexion with a scale 18 for cutting the work to measure. The work is placed upon a block 13 of wood adapted to protect the cutting-tool. -
