24,004. Greenfield, E. T. Nov. 21. Hose, connecting to couplings; screw unions.-Couplings for flexible armoured hose consist of a clamping- ring 4 in halves threaded on the spiral strips 2, 3 of the hose 1, and a cylindrical metallic coupling-sleeve 10, screwed for about balf its length. One end of the sleeve 10 is coneshaped, and the other end adapted to be connected by an ordinary coupling-nut 12 to a hydrant or the like. To make the joint, the cone-shaped end is screwed through the nut 8, the flange 9 on which engages with the flange 7 on the ring 4.
