Abstract

23,751. Scott, W. H. Nov. 17. Switches.-The contact-piece 1 is made of strips of copper, preferably of equal length, arranged so that the ends are inclined as in the Figure. The brush is mounted in a cell 2, carried by a handlaver 3 centred at 4, so that the inclined ends of the brush can come into intimate contact with similarly-inclined fixed metallic contact-pieces 6. The strips can be clamped in the cell 2 by a screw 5 and may be insulated from the cell and screw by micanite or other insulator. The pivot 4 is so arranged that one end of the brush, preferably the lower, does not leave, or only slightly leaves, its fixed contact, the circuit being actually opened at the other end of the brush. There may be provided a magnetic blow-out and sparking-pieces.
