Air, moistening.-In centrifugal apparatus for moistening air and spraying liquids, and consisting of a number of distributing- disks with their circular edges running in water, fans are attached to the same spindle as the disks and the whole of the air and liquid is made to pass a grating. Fig. 2 shows a longitudinal and Fig. 3 a transverse section of one form of the apparatus. The disks 8 are connected to hubs 10 on the shaft 4 by spokes 9, and are arranged in the casing 1. At the central opening of the casing a fan 11 is provided to force the air through the apparatus. The disks are surrounded by an arch or ring of baffle-plates 13. In apparatus having fans at each side, the outer disks are ring-shaped and the central one solid, so that the air entering in an axial direction is driven out radially. In Fig. 6 the fan blades 16 are shown directly connected to the disks 15, while Fig. 5 shows the arms 17 of the ring disk 18 formed as blades or wings. In another modification, the blades are held between two disks, one of the latter being solid and the other ring-shaped. In the modification shown in Fig. 10, a fan having radially-arranged plates 19 is surrounded by a set of rings 20. Instead of the baffle-plates being made of sheet or bar iron, they may be made hollow, as shown in Fig. 11, and in this case the framing 24 supporting the oval baffle-pipes 23 is also made hollow so that steam or hot water may be passed through to heat the saturated air. Fig. 7 shows another form of the apparatus having a pear-shaped casing 1<a> with a ventilator fan 11<a> at one end and a narrow opening at the other. The disks towards the entrance end of the casing are ring-shaped, and towards the other end the central openings get smaller until the last disk is solid, so that the air is forced past the baffle-plates before reaching the outlet 2<a>.
