Filters.-Apparatus for filtering waste oil is constructed so as to minimize clogging and facilitate the removal and renewal of the filtering- medium. The vessel a, of cylindrical or other form, is divided into two portions by the vertical or nearly-vertical partition b, in which is fixed a filtering-frame e. A spring or bar n, supported from the sides of the vessel, presses a grid f, which is covered with woven fabric of asbestos or other material, against one end of the frame. The medium k of fibrous or porous material is compressed into position by screwing a second grid g by means of a handle h, on to a stud p which is screwed into the grid f. The grid g may be covered with woven fabric. The oil is poured in through the strainer s, filters through the frame, and is drawn off by the tap m. A tap l is provided, through which sediment and unfiltered liquid may be drawn off. The vessel may be divided into more than two parts, and each partition may carry one or more of the frames described.
