Blankets; quilts; sheets; rugs.-Blankets, rugs, quilts, sheets, coverlets, furniture covers, &c. are made from paper or paperfelt segments A of equal or unequal size, spaced somewhat apart and joined by, preferably, porous tapes B, which are stitched on one or both sides of the segments, or attached by means of gelatine fixed with formalin or tannic acid, or otherwise pasted to the segments, or secured by both methods. The blanket &c. may thus be neatly folded without creasing. A strong paper or tape binding D is folded over and stitched or pasted to the edges of the blanket &c. To prevent rough edges on the backs of the segments, these edges are folded, and tapes are inserted between them and then sewn thereto, or the edges are pasted down on the tapes. The blanket may, however, if desired, be bound by a whipped edge by means of a sewing-machine. The paper may be mounted on a backing and have tapes on one side only, or the segments may be mounted between two sheets, or two sets of segments can be placed back to back with tapes between them, cement or sewing uniting the three together.
