Abstract

11,437. Weber, C., and Meyer, J. May 19. Measured quantities, delivering.-Fig. 1 shows a vertical section of apparatus for aerating liquids, Fig. 3 an elevation of the bead, and Fig. 4 a section of the head in a plane parallel to that of Fig. 1. Water, admitted through the pipe g, flows in a devious course first through the outer series of superposed annular chambers of the mixer a, and then through the inner series, the air or gas present escaping through the pipes i, k, past the float m, and through the pipe n and valve 3 to the exit o. The back pressure in the chamber b prevents the water from raising the valve q. The water finally lifts the float m and closes the exit pipe n. On depressing the spring-held lever f, the valves 1, 2 are opened and the valves 3, 4 closed. Carbonic acid gas is admitted through the pipe h, passes down the pipe n, depresses the float m, and flows through the channel k, pipes i, r, and mixer a, and opens the valve q, forcing the aÙrated water into the chamber b, whence it passes through the pipe u to a pipe discharging at the top of the measuring-vessel c. On releasing the lever f, the valves 3, 4 are opened and the valves 1, 2 closed, and the projection x opens the connecting-valve y, allowing the aÙrated water in the vessel c to pass through the tube z to the discharge tap, while the open valve 4 puts the pipe leading to the top of the vessel c in communication with a channel leading to the outside.
