Abstract

190,309. Kinsey, R. Oct. 25, 1921. Boring-heads; reamers.-An adjustable boring, reamering or like tool of the type having two diagonally-disposed cutters controlled by a screw mechanism, comprises a body 1 bored to receive two cylindrical cutters 6, 7. The cutter 6 is secured at 8 to a cylindrical bar 9 which is reduced to semicircular cross-section at its middle portion so as to clear a semicircular bar 10 having a similar short bar 14 secured to it at one end by means of a screw 15 inserted through a hole in the body, and carrying the cutter 7 at the other end. A nut 13, engaging a screw thread 2 on the body, adjusts the cutters by means of slots 16. The body is split from the front end to a point behind the intersection of the tools, which are locked by a screw 18. An extension 20, maintained rigid by a plug 22, may be provided for carrying a pilot, and the cutters may be formed integral with the bars 9, 10. The end 1<a> of the body is bored and tapped for receiving a driving shank.
