Hats fitted with cooling-appliances; helmets.- Hats are fitted with a cooling-appliance which consists of a sponge or other absorbent material which is saturated with water, etber, or other vaporizable liquid. The sponge a may be placed either in a rubber fold or pocket b, Fig. 1, attached to the hat by detachable fastenings c or in a recess d, Fig. 2, formed behind the leather e, but any other means of attachment may be employed. The invention is particularly applicable to helmets.
