Abstract

5612. Mondron, L. March 8. Ornamenting.-Relates to the decoration of opal glass panels &c. by transferring a design in vitreous pigments and burning it in and annealing in the usual way. The constitution of seven primary pigments, containing silica, soda, borax, fluor-spar, red lead, and colouring-matters, is given, the constituents being fused together and ground to powder. The designs may be imprinted on paper coated with dextrin, and the glass surfaces to which they are to be transferred are coated with colophony dissolved in turpentine. Or the design may be imprinted on a gelatine film, temporarily mounted on paper in the process of transference to the glass. By another process the design is printed directly upon thin paper which is damped and applied to the glass, the design being then burnt in.
