Abstract
26,754. Day, W. G. Nov. 16. Drawings to Specification. Preserving.-Perishable organic substances are preserved by submitting them to the action of radiant energy, such as the light, heat, and actinic waves developed by an electric current in incandescent or arc electric lamps. The process may be applied to the preservation of various articles of food and other solid or liquid substances. In carrying out the invention, the meat, for example, is suspended in close proximity to a number of electric lamps in a chamber through which a current of dried and sterilized air is kept circulating at a temperature of 90‹ to 110‹ F. In some cases the substances are enclosed in a wrapping or protective coating impervious to decay germs, either before or after treatment.
