Abstract
13,522. Johns, J. W. June 1. Steam-generator furnaces; firebars and grates.- The tubular rectangular frame B rests on the lugs C<1>, and its ends are connected by tubes or hollow firebars D and its sides by arched tubes E which may be attached to central tubes F. Feedwater is heated in the frame B and pipes described, and then passes into the boiler at a higher level. A tubular framing L, riveted to the frame B but eparated therefrom by a plate N, has tubes M with slits or perforations from which air, or air and steam, may escape to the furnace. By using a fan blast in conjunction with a steam jet, it is stated that smokeless combustion is attained. The parts described may form the chief furnace fittings of a water-tube boiler.
