Abstract
188,830. Low, A. B. Sept. 6, 1921. Pneumatic - tyre pressure gauges; piston-and-spring pressure gauges.-A piston- and-spring gauge, particularly of the kind adapted to be held upon a pneumatic tyre-valve by hand and to retain the indication of the pressure when removed, comprises a coiled compression spring 34 the upper end of which bears upon a packing ring 35 which retains in its upraised position the graduated pressure - indicating sleeve 32. As shown, the elliptical casing 10 has a central circular - section chamber 11 with an inturned shoulder 13. A plug closure 16 bored axially serves to open the tyre valve and holds a gasket 24 which seats on the valve nipple to prevent leakage of air. The air passes from the tyre to the chamber 11 to raise the piston 26 and the indicating-sleeve 32,. which is frictionally held by a cork &c. ring 35. The spring 34 is preferably of rectangular or elliptical section
