Abstract

188,411. Salsbury, H. Aug. 16, 1921. Lenses.-A glass or lens for motor head-lights &c. is provided with a centrally disposed mirror or reflector formed thereon or directly applied thereto by fusing, cementing &c. The lens is preferably provided with horizontally disposed refractory surfaces x, Fig. 1, and the mirror d may be directly applied either to the front or rear faces of the lens, or may be formed on either of those faces by silvering, painting &c. The lens may have a plane surface or be provided with vertically or transversely disposed refracting surfaces of various shapes, and may be dished cr flat. In a modification, Fig. 6, the lens is provided with a centrally-disposed recess e on the bottom of which the mirror d is applied to or formed therein. The surfaces of the lens may be wholly or partly treated to reduce the light passing through.
