Abstract

188,206. Griffin, P. J. Nov. 8, 1921. Screw propellers.-A screw propeller comprises main blades radiating from a boss and carrying auxiliary blades of similar form. Blades 11 of double convex section are attached to a boss 7 and have projections 17 which support auxiliary blades 13, 15 of uniformly thick section. The auxiliary blades are not carried by hubs but opposite blades may be linked by a plate 23. The projections 17 are attached to bands 19 shrunk on and pinned to the blades 11. In end view corresponding blades are staggered and slightly overlap, and the auxiliary blades are slightly longer than the main blades.
