Abstract

187,474. Drysdale, H. Nov. 9, 1921. Machines for making boxes. In a machine for making lined cartons of the type described in Specification 178,308 from a strip or web material, comprising a feeding and scoring element A, gumming element B, and pressure element C, the gumming roller 13 has raised portions 13a whereby adhesive is applied only to predetermined areas of the carton blank K. The pressure rollers 18, 10 may be constructed so as to repeat accuratelv upon the combined blank the scoring impressed upon the carton blank by the feeding rollers 8, 9. In a modification the adhesive is applied to the lining strip L instead of the carton strip. A method of adjusting the distance between the pairs of rollers constituting the elements A, B, C, descrihsd in Specification 17993/13 [C.Iass 100 (i), Feeding and delivering webs is referred to in ths Provisional Specification.
