Abstract
186,250. Feigelson, A. Sept. 12, 1921. Couplings for road vehicles.- In a trailer having a reach rod connected to the fore part, extending rearwardly for connection adjacent the rear axle and forming together with a draught pole, a continuous draught, the pivotal connection between the frame and the front axle serving also as a hinged connection for the draught pole. The front axle 1 and a plate 25 secured thereto are pivotally connected to the frame of the trailer bv a king bolt 28. The draught pole 41 is, at its front end, provided with a collar 42 which is pivoted on a pin 44 passing through the aperture 40<a> in the bar 60<a> of the preceding vehicle, and is. at its rear end, connected by a universal joint to the trailer. This universal joint comprises a sleeve 43 carried by the pole and pivoted on horizontal pivots 47, Fig. 3, on a block 48 which rotates on the king bolt 28 and is arranged in an aperture in the plate 25. The trailer and preceding vehicle are also connected by crossed chains or links 50, 51, which are respectively arranged above and below the draught pole 41. The tautness of the chains may be varied by turnbuckles 53.
