Abstract

182,298. Dickinson, R. H., and Winfield, T. C. June 2, 1921. Gear - boxes. - A detachable light cap 1 forms part of the lower part 2 of a gear case enclosing the toothec gears driving the axle of a tramcar. The cap 1 is of thin sheet metal and is readily replaced if damaged by stones &c., leaving the main portion 2 of the gear case undamaged. The flanged connection shown may be replaced by a construction in which the edges of the cap fit outside the casing 2.
