Abstract

182,037. Dorbritz, W. Sept. 13, 1921. Finishing.-A machine for scraping felt hat bodies in process of manufacture comprises a cone w over which the hat body is passed and an oscillating knife c. The upper half of the hat body is maintained stretched by a pair of cones engaging the sides of the cone w. All three cones are driven at the same peripheral speed by bevel-gearing 10, 11, 12 when a pedal m is in its normal raised position. For removing a finished body and substituting a fresh body for treatment, the pedal m is depressed, tilting the cone w downwards about a pivot y and simultaneously moving the side. cones outwards and lifting the bevel-wheel 11 out of mesh with its driver 10.
