179,577. Lancashire Dynamo & Motor Co., Ltd., and McLeod, R. S. Dec. 8, 1920. Reversing-gearing specially adapted for planing-machines comprises stepped planet gears P<1>, Q<1>, Fig. 4, mounted in a loose carrier c<1> and meshing with a pinion a<6> upon a driving-shaft A' and with an internal gear b<2> secured to a driven sleeve B'. Driving in two directions is effected by braking either the carrier c<1> or a second internal gear D<1>. If the step Q<1> is larger than the step P<1>, two different speeds in the same direc. tion are produced, an arrangement useful in printing-machines. The gear D' is connected to a brake drum d<6> by a sleeve d<5> journaled in a fixed bearing e<1>. The carrier C<1> is connected to a brake drum c‹ by a sleeve c<5> journaled in the bore of the sleeve d<5>. The shaft A<1> is journaled in the bore of the sleeves c<5>, B' with or without liners. Oil-rings e<3> lubricate the bearings. The carrier C' is formed as shown in Fig. 6 of two discs connected by bolts c<13> passing through distance-pieces c<10>.
