Abstract

178,780. Hoffman, M. J. Jan. 11, 1921. Type-bar machines; kammer - impression arrangements. - A platen for a coupon ticket printing-machine consists of a platen frame carrying a rubber impression tube by means of a bar secured to the frame and filling the tube. The invention is shown applied to the machine described in Specification 178,199, in which a number of type-bars 30 bearing types 36, inked by a ribbon 75, are selectively positioned to provide the desired characters in a line beneath slots 51 in a cover-plate 50 on which the coupon is placed. Two impression members are shown, each comprising a rubber tube 70 enclosing a reinforcing rod or bar 71 carrying threaded pins 72 adjustably mounted in slots 73 in a platen frame 53 and secured by nuts 74. The platen frame 53 is connected by a rock-shaft 54 to pivoted arms 55, pressed upwardly by springs 58 and lowered for making an impression by depressing an operating-lever 62, fixed to the shaft 54, whereby rollers 60 on crank-arms 59 on the ends of the shaft engage a fixed part 61 of the machine.
