Abstract

178,168. Saunders, S. E. Dec. 31, 1920. Laminated wood.-Wings of aeroplanes, double bottoms of pontoons and lifeboats, and other hollow bodies, are formed of wood in two parts a, b, each pair comprising an outer plain layer c stitched to an inner corrugated layer d, and the two parts being connected together, with their corrugated portions abutting, preferably by bolts f passing through distance pieces h. The edges of the layers c may be sealed together to render the structure water tight. Strips of wood may be inserted at the junction of the abutting corrugated portions. The material used for aeroplane wings may be plywood as described in Specification 105,412.
