Winch-actuated hoists with guided platforms. -In portable hoist.s in which the load is carried by a tilting table forming part of a frame movable in guides in vertical posts, the hoisting- mechanism of the frame is disengaged automatically when the tilting table has reached its maximum inclination. The table 5 is tilted when a weight 24 attached to the rope 22 bears against a stop 26 which is adjustable in position along the guide 25. The piston-rod 30 of a cylinder 29 carried by the stop 26 is fixed to two jaws 34 which are clamped to a rod 36. A lever 38 pivoted to the guide 25 and to the rod 36 bears against a lever 19 which controls the position of a shaft mounted eccentrically in a journal bear'- ing. The shaft carries the winding-drum 12 for the hoisting-rope 9 of the frame 4 and a pulley 14. Rotation of the shaft puts the pulley 14 into engagement either with a brake block 21 or with a pulley 15 driven by the motor 18. The pistonrod 30 is maintained normallv within its cylinder by a spring 32. When a stop 41 on the frame 4 comes into contact with the jaws 34, the rod 36 is raised and the winding-mechanism put out of action. A spring connection 43 is provided between the rod 36 and lever 38 to prevent deformation of the latter.
