Abstract

178,009. Dutro, L. C. April 27, 1921. Force-feed lubricators provided with means for automatically regulating the supply in proportion to the temperature of a bearing. Oil is supplied from an air-tight cup A through an intermediate chamber 13 having an inlet pipe 20 communicating with the cup and an outlet pipe 18 leading to the bearing, the outlet orifice being at a higher level in the chamber than the inlet orifice. The cup may have glass sides 3 and the parts are secured together by a filler-tube 6, closed at the lower end and provided with an oil opening 23 and an air opening 24. The pipe 20 is screwed into the bottom of tube 6 and its height is adjusted by a socket-wrench inserted through the tube 6 to engage a socket 21 formed at the top of the pipe. A screen 22 is inserted in the socket. When the cup has been filled, oil flows into the well 13 until a balance is reached, depending on the adjustment of tube 20. When the bearing becomes heated, the air contained in the lubricator expands and forces oil to the bearing.
