Abstract
177,937. Baylis, A. Feb. 14, 1921. Turn-bolt fastenings; catches, gravity.-A drawer or till is secured by the engagement in a recess in the drawer-frame of a catch pivoted at the side of the drawer. The catch 8, weighted to hang vertically, normally rests with its smaller extremity in a recess 7 in the drawer-frame, 4<1> and its large extremity resting against a spring- pressed slide 9 carried in the side of the drawer. The end of this slide is flush with the end of the drawer and is painted so as to be distinguishable from the rest of the front surface of the drawer. To release the drawer, the elide 9 is pressed inwards against its spring 10, tilting the catch 8 to bring it out of engagement with the notch 7 as show in Fig. 4. The drawer can then be pulled open. On shutting the drawer, the catch engages its notch automatically. Fig. 5 shows the catch in its normal engaging position and also shows an arrangement in which the spring 10 engages the end of the slide instead of a notch 11 in the slide as the arrangement shown in Fig. 4.
