Healds &c., threading.-In apparatus for selecting and separating leased warp threads in the preparation of the warp for weaving, for example to prepare the warps for a subsequent drawing-in operation, leased warp threads (or groups thereof according to their disposition in the lease) are engaged in succession at opposite sides of the lease by pins C, C<1>, Figs. 2 and 4, on a plate c on a shaft c<1> carried by a frame c<2> pivoted to a carriage B, which is traversed across the warp threads. The shaft c<1> is oscillated by lever mechanism from a crank-pin c<7>, and the frame c<2> is normally maintained in a forward position against a stop c<10> by an adjustable spring c<11>. As the carriage B travel towards the warp. threads, the pins C, C<1> press against these threads, the frame c<2> is turned on its pivot, and the pins C, C<1> deflect the warp threads, which are released one at a time and separated from the remaining threads, as shown in Fig. 8, as the shaft c<1> oscillates. The separated thread is taken by a holder D into a position where it can be taken by a carrier E and transferred to a guide F for drawing-in purposes. The holder D comprises a spring tongue furnished with two pins d and attached to a shaft d', which is reciprocated endways in guides in the frame c<2>. The carrier E may take the place of the selector needle described in Specification 7780/15, and the pressure of the pins C, C' may be arranged to control the traverse of the carriage. A modification is described, wherein two sets of separating-pins are used, one set being fixed on a plate attached to a sleeve, which surrounds the shaft c<1> and is oscillated by lever-and-crank mechanism.
