Removing collars and o t h e r articles from shafts.-A ball-race or like extractor of the kind wlterein a number of pivoted gripping - jaws carried by a body mounted on a screwed spindle are adapted to be gripped on the race, which is then drawn off its shaft by turning the screwed spindle, comprises an outer casing G to one end of which a slotted annular plate N is secured by screws M, a spring-pressed shouldered body F slidable within the casing and having fulcrumed on the shoulder thereof the jaws @, a screw spindle E threading through the body F and operated by a handle D, and a nut I screwing along the body F for forcing the casing over the jaws and gripping the latter tightly on the ball-race. The end of the screw spindle E is fitted detachably with a pressurepiece K, A helical spring H raises the casing G when the nut I is slacked back, the jaws J being opened at the same time by their springs O in readiness to be passed over the ball-race.
