Abstract

Return-tube boilers.-A gas-fired multitubular boiler has two nests of horizontal fire-tubes 3, 2 arranged one above the other, and an exterior combustion chamber 4, from which the gases pass through apertures 7 in a wall 6 into a dust and soot collecting chamber 10 at the entrance of ones of the tube nests. The gases pass forwardly through a tube nest to a smoke-box 14, and return through the other tube nest to an outlet chamber 5 adjacent to the combustion chamber. The combustion chamber and the outlet chamber are made of reinforced concrete and fire-brick.
