Abstract

173,569. Cohn, S. Sept. 3, 1920. Winding-machines.-Tubular fabric, such as is used for gas mantles, is wound, after being dried and stretched over a mandrel, on a roller 62, Fig. 1, supported upon pivoted arms 63 and driven by frictional contact with a roller 58. The mandrel 3, Fig. 6, has an end member 2 supported by rollers 15, 16 engaging arcuate grooves therein and laterally positioned by guide-rollers 23, and has a fan-shape board 68, Fig. 6, projecting therefrom. This board is arranged close to the bight of the rollers 58, 62 so as to flatten the fabric before it passes on to the winding-roller.
