Abstract

169,951. Auto-Ordnance Corporation, (Assignees of Eickhoff, T. H.). Oct. 7, 1920, [Convention date]. Machine, guns.-Relates to breech actions having inclined locking abutments the surfaces of which slide upon one another as the breech opens, and especially to guns working on the principle described in Specification 14368/14. According to the invention, for the purpose of distributing the load over the whole area of the abutting surfaces, one abutment is made of material which is more yielding than the other, and is at the same time resilient. For example, one abutment member is made of an alloy of 89 parts of copper, 10 parts of aluminium and one part of iron, while the other member is of hardened steel. The invention is shown applied to a gun having the action described in Specification 148,022.
