Abstract

165,333. Cheney, C. W. June 30, 1920. Hasp fastenings.-In a hasp fastening, the hasp is retained in its operative or inoperative position by a metal wire spring which is of the form shown in Fig. 7. This spring e is positioned in a small metal box c rigidly fixed to an attachment plate a. The hasp d straddles the box c to engage a staple or projection x and has a flat bar d<3> passing through the sides of the box c and lying between the limb e<4> of the spring and the attachment plate. The limb e<4> co-operates with the flat bar d<3> to hold the hasp in engagement with the staple x as in Fig. 1, or in a pulled-up position as shown in Fig. 3.
