Vices.-A vice of the kind in which the sliding jaw is moved in one direction by a screw and in the other direction by a spring, has an extension on the fixed jaw shaped as a handle and adapted to receive two detachable clamping-elements which enable the vice to be screwed to a bench. The handle, Fig. 1, on the fixed jaw 3 is adapted to receive two detachable members 9, 10, Figs. 4 and 6, having side passages and tapered openings, and adapted to engage the enlarged part of the handle and the back of the fixed jaw respectively, as shown. The member 9 carries a clamping-screw to secure the vice to a bench. The members 9, 10 may be secured to the handle by members engaging recesses in the handle. The jaw 4 slides on a screw 6 provided with a tightening nut 5 and encircled by a releasing-spring 7.
