Spring surfaces.-Spring surfaces for mattresses, chairs, &c. comprise the combination of parallel and tapered metal springs with bands of flexible non- stretching material, the springs being hooked to screw-eyes e on the frame and to eyelet holes c<1> in the bands, the folds of which are reinforced with transverse pins x. Each band c is provided at one end with the parallel springs d, and at the other end with tapered springs d<1>.
