Abstract

161,275. Chittenden, J. P. Jan. 5, 1920. Regulating.-The inlet ring of a steam or otherturbine is divided into separate arcs 10, 14, 15 having ports 19, 20, 21 admitting the working fluid to the nozzles. Steam is admitted to the are 10 through the main valve 22 operated by a governor-controlled servo-motor 34. The valve-rod 26 has a lost-motion connection through linkage with valves 24, 25 which are opened successively, as the valve 22 is fully opened, to admit steam from the arc 10 first to one and then to the other of the arcs 14, 15. The inlet ring is in halves joined together at 12, 13, whereby the upper half and its valves may be removed from the lower half for inspection or adjustment.
