Moulding reinforced-concrete columns and posts.- In columns or posts formed of reinforced longitudinal members symmetrically disposed about a central aperture and connected together by cross members, the cross members or diaphragms e having a central aperture are firstmoulded, and strung at the required distance apart upon a mandrel F upon which has been loosely secured a number of split sleeves G. The mandrel is then supported upon a frame comprising a number of longitudinal tim bers H provided with internal pins J which engage with the mandrel. These are surrounded by cross boards L and longitudinal facing boards M, and the whole supported upon discs N made @ sections, of which one is removable to allow of the removal of the corresponding board M for filling the corresponding section of the mould with concrete. The mould having been built up as described, the longitudinal reinforcements d are laid in grooves in the external peripheries of the discs, lashed thereto and stretched, and the segments of the mould are filled in succession, embedding the reinforcements and slightly increasing the diameters of the discs or diaphragms e. The column or post is caused to taper both upwards and downwards from the ground line as shown in Fig. 1; the uppermost section is preferably made of a square section as shown in Fig. 2, and both ends are provided with caps E<9>, E'‹.
