Abstract

India-rubber &c., preparation of.-The coherence of freshly coagulated rubber is increased by feeding it on a porous band through a series of pairs of rolls, the gaps between which successively decrease. The rubber from the coagulating vessels is placed on a band 10 passing round rollers 17, 18, 12 in a frame 1 with means for taking up slack, and is passed between pairs of rolls 2 connected by chains and sprocket wheels and gears 3, and driven from a shaft 5, the nip of each pair decreasing from left to right. The rubber is prevented from adhering to the upper rolls by means such as a second band 9 passing round these rolls. The compressed coagulum is removed from a table 20 to the sheeting rolls proper.
