158,199. Kellerit-Schlauch Ges. Dec. 9, 1918, [Convention date]. Paper pipes and tubes.-A tube consisting of several paper layers provided with grooves 3 transverse to the tube axis has the grooves arranged to abut closely so that the sides act as bracing-pieces against lateral deforming forces. Such tubes are made by axially compressing a tube already provided with shallow grooves when moist. The shallow groove; are formed by leading the tube 8 when moist between a threaded spindle 5 and an internally threaded nut 7. Thetube 8 is secured to the spindle 5 and the latteris rotated whilst the nut 7 is held against rotation but slides along the spindle. The nut 7 and spindle 5 may both be held stationary whilst the paper tube 8 is rotated. The screw-threads on the nut are preferably tapered from the admission to the discharge end.
