Abstract

A metal profile is prebent, as a template, to the desired radius of the semicircular arch to be produced and is inserted into a plastic hollow profile which has been heated in a liquid bath to a temperature within the thermoelastic range of the plastic. The metal profile serves simultaneously as forming means and as template. After the forming, cooling to room temperature is carried out in stages. The metal profile can then be removed from the hollow profile or left in it as reinforcement. The forming takes place in a bath contained in a liquid tank (2) which is equipped with a temperature control device (21, 22) for the liquid and is allocated to a work table (1) with a flat work surface inclined on one side in such a manner that the liquid draining off is led back into the tank (2). This process makes possible the production of dimensionally accurate and durable semicircular arches from plastic hollow profiles. <IMAGE>
