Abstract

154,016. Oldham, 0., (trading as Oldham & Son), Oldham, G., and Oldham, J. Sept. 15, 1919. Stands.-A charging- s t a n d for storage batteries is provided with a movable contact consisting of a metal strip h secured to a bolt i which can slide in slotted metal plates g, g<1> fastened to the opposite sides of a slot in the back board b. The plates g, g<1> are connected by a bolt n to which a lead p is fastened. The lead p is connected to a terminal on the base a through a variable resistance or a lamp socket q. A projection m on the contact h engages within the slot in the plate g to prevent turning of the contact when the bolt i and nut k are loosened for adjusting the position of the contact. A second contact c, which may be fixed or adjustable, is secured to the board b, or it may take the form of a plate fixed to the base a. One or both contacts may consist of a spring-pressed plunger or cup.
