Abstract

1537383 Water-insoluble disazo dyestuff derived from a tetrachlorobenzidine BASF FARBEN & FASERN AG 26 March 1976 [27 March 1975] 12402/76 Heading CAP The novel water-insoluble disazo dyestuff of the formula is prepared by diazotizing the appropriate tetrachlorobenzidine and coupling with 2,6-dihydroxy- 3-cyano-4-methylpyridine. Its pigment properties may be improved by heating the coupling mixture before its isolation (possibly with addition of a long-chain fatty amine) or by heating it in an organic solvent, e.g. nitrobenzene, after isolation. It has use for pigmenting plastics and varnishes and in the manufacture of printing inks. Specification 1,285,339 is referred to.
