1535731 Benzthiazole azo dyestuffs IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 26 Aug 1976 [27 Oct 1975] 44134/75 Heading C4P Novel azo dyestuffs devoid of carboxylic acid and sulphonic acid groups have the formula wherein R is an optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl or cycloalkyl group, R' is pentyl or hexyl, R<SP>2</SP> is hydrogen or an optionally substituted alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkenyl or cycloalkyl group, R<SP>3</SP> is hydrogen or a non-ionogenic group, R<SP>4</SP> is a non- ionogenic group, n is 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4 and X is an anion. The dyes are prepared by alkylating/quarternizing the appropriate azo compound. They may be used for colouring polymers and copolymers of acrylonitrile and blends thereof, and also of dicyanoethylene and also acid-modified polyesters and polyamides.
