Abstract

153,557. Seck, W. Nov. 6, 1919, [Convention date]. Vacuum apparatus.-In fuel-feed apparatus for an internal-combustion engine, suction acting through a pipe r on a piston c closes a valve e controlling the entrance of air through a filter 10. The suction then draws fuel into the float chamber until the float rises and cuts off the suction by means of a valve v. By means of a small hole x in the piston c, the pressure is equalized on both sides thereof, when the air valve e opens, so that the fuel escapes from the delivery passage 19 which contains a fuel filter in the enlargement 18. The tank is closed from above by a plug 4 screwing into a cap 7, which bears against a cross brace 9. A plug 21 allows access from below. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) also describes a modified form shown in Fig. 4 (Cancelled), in which the suction valve v is arranged above the air valve, both on the same stem. The valves are operated by the float through a collar p or a shoulder 34. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
