1535094 A/D converter W & T AVERY Ltd 14 March 1977 [28 May 1976] 22279/76 Heading H3H An A-to-D converter in which the analogue signal to be digitized is integrated over a given time interval and the integral is then digitized, includes means for applying to the analogue input of the converter an analogue correction signal whose integral includes a non-linear term. In a dual-ramp converter in which the input is integrated for a fixed time interval, then a reference is integrated until zero is returned to with counting of the time interval the latter takes, the correction signal may be linear (to correct for a quadratic non-linearity in a transducer providing the analogue input) and provided to the reference input from the (clockdriven) counter via a D/A converter, biasing, and a potentiometer. Alternatively, the correction signal may be a fraction of the analogue input (selected by a potentiometer), optionally with a fraction of the reference added.
