Abstract

1535032 Fastening D BUCKLEY and F BESWICK 28 Nov 1975 [29 Aug 1974] 37701/74 Heading E2B [Also in Division F2] An elongate member has a male portion 10, Figs. 1 and 2, at one end, a female portion 11 at the other end, and a central portion 12, the portion 10 having transverse teeth 13 co-operable with transverse teeth 14 on the or a corresponding portion 11 and the male and female portions having co-operable formations to resist relative rotation therebetween when mated; such formations may comprise longitudinal teeth 15a, 15b on portion 10 engageable with teeth 16a, 16b respectively on the corresponding portion 11 The portion 10 is provided with ridges 21 which act as a scale, a tongue 60a to assist mating with the female portion 11 and may be provided with a bore 20 to increase the resiliency thereof. Notches 30 are formed in the portion 12 so that teeth 31 can co-operate with a rack. In the modification of Figure 3 teeth 40 on male portion 10 are co-operable with similar teeth formed on faces 41 of the female portion 11; in Figure 4 teeth 13, extend the full width of portion 10 and the teeth 15a, 15b, 16a and 16b have been omitted, in Figures 5, 6, 7 a cross-member 50 is provided, and the end faces of the portions 10, 11 need not be at right angles to the axis (see Figures 8, 9, not shown).
