Abstract
1533416 Pressure cleaning TAYLOR & OSBORNE Ltd 18 Aug 1976 [9 Oct 1975] 41459/75 Heading A4F [Also in Divisions F1 F2 and F4] A blow gun for cleaning swarf from a drilled passage comprises a fluid supply passage 24 leading from a valve to an outlet nozzle 32 ported to atmosphere such that in normal use a fluid such as compressed air passes through a Venturi 42 in the nozzle and draws ambient air through ports 44, the ports acting as pressure-relief outlets should the nozzle outlet 46 be obstructed, ribs 50 preventing blockage of the ports 44 by a user's hand. As shown the blow gun comprises two parts 10, 32 joined by the passage 24, the tube 22 in which the passage 24 is formed being secured to the part 32 by a resilient retaining clip 40 and a plug 34 with an adhesive-coated thread to prevent unauthorized separation. The passage 24 communicates with radial ports 26 which are normally blocked by a reilient seal ring 18 of V-section under the action of the fluid supply pressure. By tilting the part 32 (and thus the tube 22) relative to the part 10 against bias imparted by the resilience of the seal ring 18, communication is established from the fluid supply via the ports 26 to the passage 24.
