Abstract

1533393 Reflective lighting fittings LAM Inc 23 Dec 1975 52543/75 Heading F4R A luminaire for providing indirect illumination from a high intensity source 6, e.g. a mercury, high pressure sodium or metal halide lamp, comprises an internally reflective bowl 1 of greater diameter at an outer lip 2 than at the base 3, 4 and means 8 for holding the bowl relative to the source 6. The side wall of the bowl is part of an ellipsoid with the source arranged so that all the light emitted below the plane of the lip 2 is reflected over the lip. The interior surface of the side wall may be fluted and the base 3 has a diffusing surface or lining 10. The holding means 8 comprises a set of radial spokes.
