Abstract
1533386 Liquid fuel atomizers DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 16 Dec 1975 [17 Dec 1974] 54503/74 Heading F4T A liquid atomizer for installation in a gas stream of an aircraft gas turbine engine comprises liquid discharge means 13, for directing a film C of liquid transversely into the gas stream A, to form a sheet of liquid droplets, and a nozzle 3 located downstream of means 13 arranged to direct a gas jet B into the droplets to effect atomization of the liquid. Liquid fuel is supplied into a conduit 14, is swirled at 8, and flows over the convex surface 13, and air is supplied through a pipe 5 and passes through radial bores 11 into a circumferential slot 12 and atomizes the droplets to form a fine mist D. Three coplanar atomizers 1a, 1b, 1c having simplified nozzles 3 with sets of parallel bores 16 are shown in Fig. 2.
