Abstract

1533354 Preparing copper phthalocyanines NIPPON PETROCHEMICALS CO 10 March 1977 10271/77 Heading C4P Solvents used in the preparation of copper phthalocyanines have the general formula wherein R is C 1 -C 4 alkyl, the copper phthalocyanines being prepared by reacting in the solvent a phthalic anhydride or a derivative thereof, urea and a copper salt or phthalonitrile and a copper salt. The solvent is used in amounts of 150-1000% by weight of the phthalic compound, the copper salt in amounts of 15-30 mol per cent and the urea in amounts of 200-600 mol per cent based on the phthalic compound. The reaction takes place at 160-300‹ C. at 2-10 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP> pressure.
