Abstract

1532455 Polyphenylene ether-polystyrene compositions GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 31 March 1976 [1 April 1975] 13124/76 Headings C3M and C3R Thermoplastic compositions comprise (a) 5 to 45 parts by weight of a polyphenylene ether resin, (b) 50 to 85 parts by weight of a homopolystyrene and (c) 5 to 35 parts by weight of an elastomeric vinyl aromatic/conjugated diene block copolymer ABA<SP>1</SP> wherein the conjugated diene block 3 has a higher molecular weight than that of the combined vinyl aromatic blocks A and A<SP>1</SP>. The compositions may also contain flame retardants, processing aids and fillers, particularly fibrous glass, and may be made into shaped articles. Examples describe compositions of poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene ether), polystyrene and styrene/butadiene/ styrene block copolymers.
