Abstract

1532364 Data transmission SIEMENS AG 28 July 1977 [2 Aug 1976] 31669/77 Heading H4P A data terminal for correction to a line FL comprises an input device, e.g. a keyboard TA; output devices such as a printer DR and a display unit AE; a control unit ST, e.g. a microprocessor, arranged to control the input, output, transmission, and reception of data; a main store AS which serves to store data; and a non-volatile intermediate store ZS, e.g. of the magnetic disc or magnetic bubble type, which is corrected to the control unit. The intermediate store ZS is arranged to store items of data which, in a local operating mode of the terminal does not involve transmission or reception via the line FL, are supplied by the input device or are to be supplied to the output devices; the store ZS also stores items of data received via the line during the local operating mode and automatically emits to the output devices under the control of the control unit the received and stored data when the output devices are available. In this manner local inputs and outputs of data are not interrupted and lost, as is generally the case with known terminals in which data received over the line is given preference over local operation.
